Hey guys...How are you? We're doing fine. Ghost Hospital just wrapped up recording for the LP coming out later this year. It was recorded by Mr. James Bess of Dumbwaiters, Insect Joy, Permanent Makeup fame and went really well. I've also been SUPER busy the last few weeks helping Rich over at Florida's Dying with their new site which is basically done as well. Whew! So hope you are doing well. Summer is just about here so look for Ghost Hospital to be playing some shows and our new LP COMING SOON! (Hopefully by end of summer!)

Geez, it's been a while...Computer died, mind died, legs died, ambition died...yadda yadda yadda...
We're still kicking it. Been playing shows , etc. but more recently we just did a session for local radio station WMNF 88.5 in Tampa. There will be about a 20-25 min live set ON AIR Wednesday, 4/20/11 from 8-10pm along with some type of interview-ish thing and then we will be spinning our favorite records. Tune in, if you can!
Also, we are wrapping up a formal recording session with Mr. James Bess of Insect Joy/Dumbwaiters/Permanent Makeup/Billfolds fame. We originally planned on doing about 5-6 new songs, but it went really smoothly and we found we had some more time -- enough to get a total of about 11 new songs, completely tracked. Not sure if they are all going to make the cut just yet, however. It went very well and I definitely would recommend Mr. Bess to anyone. Those of you who keep up with what we're doing know that we've been planning an LP for a long time now and I think that it is very VERY close in happening now. I would guess summer...
Got some exciting shows coming up over the next several months: Jacuzzi Boys, The Spits, TV Ghost -- just to name a few -- and if that is any indication, I think this summer is going to be the best! See you soon!

Ghost Hospital / Blast & the Detergents split 7"out now from Scotch Tapes / No Clear Records.
"Good split 7″s are most certainly an endangered species, but they do still exist - just check out this pair of damaged groups from Florida (of all states). This is my first experience with Blast and the Detergents, and I like what I hear - “Minimalism, D’uh” is such a poor attempt at Sonic Youth that it morphs into something else entirely, reminding me of that great Melted Sunglasses single in the way things never completely add up (and it is all the better for it). “Time Misses A Beat” works in a similar manner, lots of weird guitar work while the drummer plays along to his favorite Minutemen songs. Ghost Hospital didn’t do a whole lot for me on their first single, but these two songs sound dramatically different, and end up outshining Blast and his crew. Very gnarly and simple guitar rock that lands them in a nice position, one where they could fit into the Messthetics stable due to the weird vocal bloopage, yet could just as easily sneak onto a later volume of Killed By Death, thanks to the sturdy proto-punk riffing. I realize they’re a good thirty years late for that, but sometimes I think in terms of comps, and I get the feeling that this unassuming little single will be ripe for such revisiting in a couple generations’ time."

Ghost Hospital is teaming up w/ Blast & the Detergents for a split 7" on Scotch Tapes/No Clear. The songs are at the plant, so should be a matter of weeks. Look for it late August-ish. Shortly after that will be Ghost Hospital debut LP on Florida's Dying. Rich is currently on the Everyone Gets Rich tour, so give him some time.
I did an interview with Monty Buckles from Lamps for Terminal Boredom. Check it out here: http://www.terminal-boredom.com/lamps2.html
Also, in case you missed it, I interviewed Rich Evans from Florida's Dying here: http://www.terminal-boredom.com/floridasdying.html
Til next time...

Summer Night UFO "1999-2009" cassette/zine is out. They have been going really quick so please get it while you can! ORDER HERE
This collection spans Connelsville, PA's Summer Night UFO's out put from 1999-2009. Little is known about this band, but I have known songwriter Jason Rohm for a long time and I think that more people need to hear this. I think that growing up, there was always that kid who did crazy shit that would stick with you for your entire life. Jason kind of reminds me of the kid that would stick firecrackers in a cat's butt or skateboard into oncoming traffic. And this isn't to say that he is a retard or an asshole, but there is something about him that is just fucking weird. And it shows in his music and art. He currently is a librarian in Connelsville, drifted across the US for awhile where he recorded some songs on this collection. And even did a few covers for this tape including: Wavves, Eat Skull, Woods and one of the most deranged covers of "Is This Real" by the Wipers I have ever heard.
SNUFO's sound to me varies from the time the songs were recorded. There are disjointed, fractured pop songs juxtaposed with some heavy screamers. For fans of Sic Alps, Eat Skull, Sebadoh, Velvet Underground, Iron Lung. Features a 32-page zine with artwork and lyrics all done by J himself for the first 50 copies. A lot of time was spent going through the 6 full CDs of material J sent me and it was very difficult narrowing it down to the 21 songs on this cassette, but we are VERY proud of this release and it was a long time in the making............................(there just may have to be Summer Night UFO "1999-2009" Vol. 2).................. ORDER HERE
In other news, I recently had the chance to do some interviews with Rich Evans of Florida's Dying Records and Monty Buckles of Lamps for Terminal Boredom, which should be up very soon. I will post the link as soon as that happens. Til next time, bitches....OW!

Happy belated New Year! Been really busy the past few weeks. Down to the last few copies of the Slippery Slopes tape, so get it while you still can. Those dudes have a new single coming out on Florida's Dying in a month or so, so stay tuned for that. Sounds hella good. Next up on Teen Ape is the Summernight UFO 10 Year Retrospective cassette. Features a 32-Page zine by Jason Rohm. We're really excited to put this out for them. Also I am doing interviews with Rich Evans of Florida's Dying and Monty Buckles from Lamps for Terminal Boredom. Keep a look out! Thanks to everyone who has bought stuff and supported Teen Ape. We love you! xoxoxox

Some new stuff on the catalog page. Check it.
Got the Slippery Slopes jams and should be having this cassette in a few weeks. Them boys are heading out west for some shows in Seattle, Sacramento on DJ Rick Ele's Art For Spastics show on KDVS, San Francisco for Budget Rock 8, and more. Really happy to be putting out their tape, even though their drummer Rich is a racist homo that sells LSD to the KKK.
Later, we'll be putting out a 10 year retrospective cassette of PA's Summernight UFO. This shit is intense, and there is even a Wavves cover in the midst, I hear.
Keep checking back!

Scary Pink "Dope Sick Pilgrim" out now!
Next up: Slippery Slopes!
6.11.09
The next Teen Ape release will be a cassette by Pittsburgh's Scary Pink entitled 'Dope Sick Pilgrim'. I've known and played in tons of bands with this kid. He's awesome. Scary Pink's songs are lush, droning bum-outs that are sure to scare the fuck out of any unsuspecting listener. And yet the songs are totally beautiful. You'll spot the obvious My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Ride influences immediately, but under the reverberated swirley guitar are some of the most brilliant songs I have ever heard. Much love for this kid and his schizophrenic cacophany. Very limited press and hopefully will be out beginning of August. Keep checking back!
